Program Description

The philosophy is to produce master-level graduates with knowledge and skills in performing analysis and assessment and in the utilization and development of appropriate technologies consistent with social, economic, resource and human knowledge potential with consideration to environmental impacts and sustainable development.

Background and Significance – Economic and social changes along with technological developments and the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community provided the foundations for economic cooperation which will bring about social and cultural changes as well as human resource changes on the regional level. As a result, Thailand has an urgent need to adapt and prepare for competition on the global level with emphasis on developing high-potential human resources alongside technologies in building or developing strong foundations, since importation of foreign technologies without appropriate analysis, evaluations, implementation or management leads to ineffective development and unsustainability, leading to wastes and negative social, economic, environmental and overall quality of life impacts. Thus, the program’s purpose is to create research, development, implementation and dissemination of technologies appropriately to the contexts of communities and localities and to meet the national economic development objectives while giving importance to environmentally-friendly growth and sustainable development in order to solve various problems. The program stands out in its effort to produce master-level graduates with knowledge in analysis, evaluation, application, management and development of appropriate technologies consistent with social, economic, resource and human knowledge potential with quality, knowledge, experience and the ability to conduct research and studies and develop appropriate technologies in line with the Thai social context while performing community development work in line with the needs of the country while being able to combine knowledge from multiple disciplines, whether in science, engineering science or social science, to develop new knowledge in appropriate development, management and application of technologies for sustainable community development.
